I would just like to wish all my blogging friends a very merry christmas and love peace health and happiness for the new year ! Hope you all have a wonderful holiday and santa brings you all you wish for xxxx
i just received some exciting news, i have won a journal workshop with Cathy Bluteau, you can find a link to her web address HERE . My friend Erin told me about her online classes and how lovely she is and so i went over for a visit and she does have some wonderful art work and classes so make sure you pay her a visit ! so so excited !!
I know it's been such a long time but i have had one of the busiest summers ever ! lots of visitors a week long encaustic course ( pics coming soon ) and my daughter moving into residence at university very emotional for me ! I miss her so much :( . Anyhow i wanted to share a few things i got done earlier in the year, remember my crazy quilt i started well it's finished yay !!! i also finished up a small quilt and i did do a few lessons from my Joanne Sharpe class but i'll just post a few. I have been journalling i won't bore you with all my pages but here or a couple hope you take the time to look and i would love to hear from you all can't wait to do some catch up ! x
I made this little art quilt for the Ontario network of needleworkers challenge, the theme was connecting so i decided to make this little quilt connecting people around the world. You can click on the pic for a better view.
Well i wasn't quite happy with my placement of my bubbles so after some advice from Dena Crain the instructor we agreed it needed more to create more contrast so i added 7 more and i do like it much better. I feel my bubbles or now popping much better. I do recommend this class it was a lot of fun ... click on pic for a closer look would love to know what you all think......
So here is my lesson 3 but i am having difficulty trying to photograph my quilt to show up the bubbles and details. This was a fun but a little scary class. Cutting holes in my quilt and darning them back in was a very very scary feeling but i love the results just wish it would show better. click on the pics for a closer look !!!
Hey hope everyone had a great weekend ! I completed my first class of my QU darn quilt class which was to select my gradated fabrics and cut them on the curve and sew them together. Well not having much experience sewing curves it was very very tricky !!! Finally managed it though ! very pleased with myself. I am on with lesson two which i will reveal to you when it's done. Here is my first lessons result.....
I mentioned in an earlier post about Joanne Sharpe's letter love class and i have just finished lesson 4 so glad to be on my way looking forward to playing with lesson 5 this weekend. There is a link at the side of my blog if you are interested in signing up !!!
I am really enjoying my online classes at Quilt university. I am currently working on lesson 2 of the Artist toolbox with Lyric Kinard it really is making me look at shapes colour lines and texture in a new way. Of course i am behind as i just received lesson 3 i mean whats new there with me lol !!
Lesson 1 was all about shape line and texture and Lesson 2 is working on colour and value, something i need to learn more of. I highly recommend these classes they are very informative with a vast of information. I am also currently taking the Darned quilts with Dena Crain which i am behind as the weather is not allowing me to go shopping for some of my fabric i need. I have been practising sewing my curves though !!
If that wasn't enough i finally signed up for letter 101 with Joanne Sharpe it is a fantastic self paced class and i have been inspired by many bloggers creations taking this class. I have already done 3 lessons but will post about that later. Here are a few of my pics showing a little about what i have been doing in class !!
Hey i finished my final lesson for my tea and spice dyeing class which was to make something using some of our dyed fabrics. I did not bother dying larger pieces i used all my samples that were left and made this small art quilt. i pieced the back ground then made a flower from the pinks and purples and yellow and thread painted to add highlights.
I have spent the day recording all my information for my tea and spice dyeing class in a 8.5 x 11 journal.
I added all my class information plus my samples and my findings and what a wonderful reference book it has made !! now to finish lesson three !! here are a couple of sample pages to see what i did !
I am so pleased with myself this week, i have been creating almost every day and thought i would share a little of what i have been doing. I mentioned about my online classes i signed up for and i started the Tea and Spice dyeing class at quilt university and after lesson one i achieved some interesting results.
I also managed to work on my crazy patch using some of the tast stitches and a little silk ribbon embroidery which was fun.
I managed a few journal pages as well so yes all in all a very creative week !!
Hi everyone, back from my trip and missing the sunshine, i did get my first crazy patch made up from my embroidery guild class and i have just started stitching. Our next class is learning some silk ribbon flowers looking forward to that ! I want to do all creams and gold and i will be adding more lace etc as i get going.
I have also just signed up for three quilt university classes i got my first lesson today on my first class which is Dyeing with tea and spices with Marjie McWilliams looks like a lot of fun it's a three week class, so i will post some of my work once i get started making my samples.
The second class which starts on feb 17th is Artist Toolbox with Lyric Kinard a four week class excited for this one ! and the third one is Darned quilts with Dena Crain which is also a four week class and starts on feb 24th so i guess i will be busy for the next few weeks with all these projects on the go.
