I am so stupid !

Yes thats right stupid ! you will never guess what i did, i burnt my right hand on the stove. I just finished dishing out supper and saw some crumbs on the ceramic and silly me thought i would brush them over onto the counter top with my hand, i mean who in their right minds does that ! so this happened last night and i spent 7 hours soaking my fingers in a bowl of iced water. each end pad of my fingers just came up in a blister and the pain oh my goodness the pain it was excrutiating it made me feel quite ill !

So now this morning i have woke up with a flippin cold and a sore throat i think i shocked my body into it lol !!  and a very tender hand.  I hope it is ok for monday i start a week long course making art quiltlets. well now i have had another day of feeling sorry for myself i will go make myself a coffee and read my new book stitching the textured surface !! x

My postcards are finished yay ! and my first ATC cards

Hello everybody, glad you stopped by, i have a few things to share today, i finished my two postcards from my class i took with Donna Funnel, i created the backgrounds in class and finished the designs at home. They were fun to make and i do intend to make some more. The landscape one has both machine and hand embroidery, i added french knots as the blossom and i embroidered the fence.
The flower one is some fabric flowers cut from a floral piece and i laid organza on top of these added beads to the centres and then i embroidered some of the highlights of the petals with black floss.

My next little project was to make some ATC cards, i made one which has been posted to England for a swap with my friend Jennie and then i made three more hopefully to swap with whoever would like to ! The backgrounds on these are made from tissuetex which i crinkled and painted and adhered to timtex, The glitter is made from assorted fibres and threads caught between tulle and organza using a water soluble stabiliser and machine stitched before dissolving, i also have added some fine copper woven ribbon. Well thats about it i am working on another project which i hope i can share with you soon !

sea goddess

I have finally finished my sea goddess piece, this started life as a hand knitted square which i embellished onto a piece of painted wunder under, i added silk fibres, roving and angelina fibres. I embellished this then to a piece of creped backed satin and then to some felt. Next step was to add some machine embroidery and some hand embroidery and lots of beads, i made a molded face from paper clay and painted it and then after attaching it i layered a piece of painted mysty fuse over tthe top and heat blasted it in place while it was hot i added some foil highlights. i added some shell beads along the bottom edge.
I wasn't sure how to mount this piece so for now i painted a canvas to try and resemble water and mounted it to this !! Thanks for looking !

Postcard and postcard class !

I just received this wonderful fabric postcard from Sue Bleiweiss of  3 creative studios, I joined in the technique of the month which was the painted lace and my name was drawn to win a postcard . It is so pretty with wonderful colours .

Talking of postcards i took a fabric postcard class on friday at sewfest with Donna Funnel it was so much fun. Donna was a wonderful teacher and she had some wonderful ideas for making the postcards. I have a couple to finish off and then i can share them with you. Sew fest was great i bought more books, fibres, angelina, lutrador etc can't wait to play with my new stash.

I have had a crazy week and i am also trying to get my homework finished for my techniques class which is on monday and an atc for my friend Jennie and a felting piece which will be going on display with my treeman at Reichards quilt store in St Jacobs the middle of the month phew !! Felted treeman !

I have been working on this off and on for a few weeks and still don't know if i am fully finished with it yet but i am going to leave it alone for now. This started off with a piece of handmade green felt that reminded me of part of a treetrunk shape. I was going to try and get it done to put in a show here but then i didn't think it was good enough anyway so i slowed down on it .
I used different merino and silk fibres lots of yarns  chifon scarfs for most of the background. The leaves were made from drier sheets with added fibres aand wool then hand embroidered and beads were added. I free motioned the felted piece with swirls to get the feeling of the knots and contour lines of the tree trunk and i added some random beads and hand stitching and french knots.  I added some tree twigs i picked up from my garden wrapped in mixed fibres and hand stitched in place. The photo does not do it justice it has such great texture. Thanks for looking and please let me know what you think !

Painted lace and muslin

Hi everyone ! i decided to play along at the  http://threecreativestudios.com/  technique of the month it was so cool seeing the transformation. I fused different pieces of lace to some fabric, then i added copper foil, i painted it over with lumiere copper paint then dabbed a mix of blue and silver with some perfect pearls added to make the shade of blue i wanted. Then on top i dabbed more copper mixed with some pearls. i added a little bit of rub n buff in copper and turquoise and voila a really cool surface and piece of fabric which i think i am going to turn into a journal cover.
Not wanting to waste the paint mixed i painted a piece of muslin with the paints and when dry i stamped some swirls on it looks so nice in real life. so here or the pics !!
